Before 1975, the women of Mexico didn't have many of the civil rights that we would now consider basic human rights.
During the 1950's and 60's, they believed that only men could have rights like education , voting rights, and the liberty of expression
of their own body. Some of the main causes for which women didin't have civil right's was poverty and male chauvinistic attitudes of
the time period in this culture. Because of this, the decisions of a woman's life were made by their fathers or husbands. This dates
back to previous time periods when women were seen and treated as objects, and often exchanged for land or cattle. It wasn't until
the 1950's-70's that women began to have move equal rights which continues today.
